![]() Hailing from Scotland my wife and I are used to excellent produce and if you have ever had Halibut you will know how fantastic it is when fresh and cooked properly. From bought in Octopus for a starter to some of the worst Halibut as a special we’ve ever had, it really was poor. Much of what we ate, despite being billed otherwise was clearly frozen or at the very least not fresh. Unfortunately the food, ambience and ultimately the staff are no where near good enough for the price. Lonely planet is normally pretty solid so we were looking forward to our first proper meal together in this awesome city. My wife and I visited VV for a pre theatre following a recommendation in our Lonely Planet guide book to NYC. We followed this with a sea bass the was cooked to perfection. We chose a pasta with peas and one with with mushrooms. The pastas were available in half portions allowing us to try a couple of different ones. We tried the calamari with fried artichokes. The appetizers where interesting and capable of sharing. ![]() After relaxing with a cocktail we ordered dinner which was served to us in a leisurely time span which we enjoyed. The cocktail and wine list was interesting and not overpowering. The menu featured the nights specials and the seasons regular dishes. What we like was the tables were not overcrowded. As we were escorted to our table we could not notice some of the dishes that were being consumed. The restaurant was busy with a moderate noise level for a Wednesday evening and we were greeted and seated promptly. As soon as we walked through the door we knew we found a gem. Since we tried most of the restaurants in the past we decided to take the walk on a beautiful evening and see what Vice Versa was about. American Express sent me a short list of restaurants in the area.when we were staying at the NY London hotel for dinner. I guess the answer is the location? Located on West 51 street between 8th and 9th Avenue is somewhere we never thought of venturing to. All the restaurants in all the world, why haven’t we ever been here.
